It is with broken, yet grateful hearts for his love, that we sadly tell of Augustine Robert Xavier passing into eternal life on Friday, December 3rd at the age of 74. He was the wind beneath our wings, our hero, our teacher, the strongest and the bravest person we knew, our biggest cheerleader and our everything. He was born in Brooklyn, NY April 27, 1947. He had many careers throughout his life but the one he was most proud of was being a NYC Fireman. Always filled with energy and could never sit still he was a Jack of all Trades as there was not a project, problem or subject he couldn’t figure out a way to fix. Similarly there was never a cause or underdog that he didn’t root for or a person in need he didn’t help. His enthusiasm and zeal for life was contagious and his smile, eyes and energy lit up a room. Never short on words, he was happy to build you up with words of encouragement, explain how to fix something with textbook technical details or tell you every detail of his latest project. He is survived by his wife Jo Ann, sons Robert and David Xavier, and daughters Laura (Richard) Marooney, Kimberly Moncada and Brittany (Michael) DiFiore. He was the proud grandfather of Olivia, Regan, Richard, Matthew and Maggie. He is the brother of Anna (Jack) Riolo and Frank (Ginny) Xavier. He is predeceased by his sister Arlene Portz. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Good Shepherd Hospice, Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or a charity near to your heart.
