Constance Rossoff
December 17, 1923 - April 30, 2021
Constance (Connie) Rossoff died peacefully on April 30, 2021 at age 97. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Arthur, and her daughter Suzanne. Connie is survived by her sister Laura, her two sons Andrew and Matt, Andrew’s wife Vicky, Matt’s wife Maggie, devoted son-in-law Jim, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Born in the Bronx, Connie had a passion for learning. At age 16, she enrolled at Hunter College where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. She went on to earn a Masters Degree, summa cum laude, in Education from Duke University. She taught Special Education students in Ft. Pierce, Florida before moving back to New York and marrying Arthur in 1947. Beginning in the late 1960s, Connie taught English at Half Hollow Hills High School. After retirement, she shared her love of books and language as an active literacy volunteer. Connie lived a remarkable life, filled with family, arts, theatre, letters, culture, and a commitment to making the world a better place. She was married to Arthur for more than 60 years and together they raised their three children, traveled much of the world, and worked tirelessly on issues bigger than themselves. Also for more than 60 years, Connie welcomed her extended family to her home for Thanksgiving dinner. The family is planning a memorial service and celebration of Connie’s life in late July 2021.
