Doris Freytag Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Doris M. Freytag: 1928 - 2020 Doris M. Freytag, a longtime resident of Bayport and formerly of Brooklyn and Levittown, died March 11 after a long illness. She was 91. Until her health declined, Doris was an active member of the Columbiettes, the women’s auxiliary affiliated with Knights of Columbus Council 725, Patchogue. At her former parish in Levittown, she was involved in the Rosary Altar Society. She was devoted to the Blessed Mother and said her rosary nightly while she was well. She was a caring wife to Alfred, who passed away last July, and a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Doris and Alfred would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in September. Doris was an avid Bingo player, and she and “Al” were wonderful dancers. They enjoyed bowling and participated locally in a senior citizen league. A fan of TV game shows and baseball (let’s go, Mets!), she possessed a terrific sense of humor. Playing the “parts” of “Nana” and “Papa,” the grandchildren got together one year to produce the video, “Our Funny Nana,” which recounted some of the funniest moments in their grandmother’s life. She was a great mother to her two children, Susan Perretti of East Setauket, and Thomas, of Bayport. A homemaker and later clerk at the Levittown Public Library, she was a ferocious reader and especially delighted in who done its, often solving the mysteries way in advance of the ending. In addition to Susan and Thomas, she is survived by daughter-in-law Alison; son-in-law Charles; four grandchildren, Meaghan Mauro of Bayport, Gregory Kane of Denver, CO, Brittany Freytag of Bayport and Kaitlyn Yesalonis of Patchogue; and three great-grandchildren, Justin and Hailey Mauro and Ethan McGaughran. Visiting will be at Robertaccio Funeral Home on Sunday, March 15, 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, 9:45 a.m., at Our Lady of the Snow R.C. Church in Blue Point. Interment will be at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.
