Eileen was 82 years old, the youngest of three children to William and Rose Duffy. She grew up in Astoria, Queens where she lived with her parents and two brothers, “Bill” and “Jack”. She was very close with her brothers her entire life. Both are deceased now with “Bill” passing just recently in February of this year. She adored Bill and would visit and speak with him regularly. Eileen is survived by Louis Boyce to whom she was happily married for 58 years. They had one daughter together, “Laura”, who is married to “Jonathan” for 26 years. They have one daughter, Eileen’s Granddaughter, “Chyna” who is 20 years old and has been a dancer since she was only 2 years old. Chyna, referred to by Eileen as “My Chyna Doll”, was the shining light in Eileen’s life. She attended every one of Chyna’s dance competitions and performances. She was Chyna’s biggest fan and they had a very close Grandmother-Granddaughter relationship. Eileen also LOVED to gamble a minimal way. Playing cards and an occasional trip with friends to a local casino including “Jakes 58”was her thing. She would also very much look forward to “card night” every Thursday when she and Louis (“Louie”) would play Texas Holdem with friends down at the Mastic Beach Yacht Club. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles while watching television. She was a religious person who when younger and healthier was very active at St. John’s Church in Center Moriches which was during the years “Laura” attended St. John’s and Mercy Catholic Schools. Eileen would manage and run fund raising events such as carnivals which were held in the field between St. John’s Church and the middle school across the street. She worked on these events with Father Corcoran. Those who attended have fond memories of these events and are aware of her hard work to make sure they ran smoothly. That was another way Eileen worked to bring enjoyment to people’s lives. Eileen for most of her life was a very active woman with shining smile and very outgoing personality. Being around her was like seeing sunshine with a breath of fresh air for anyone who knew her or just met her. She possessed a magnetism which often attracted strangers to the point they would be telling her their life stories without hesitation. She would always listen and offer sincere advice out of the goodness of her heart. This magnetism with strangers was viewed by family and friends as being “a funny talent”. That was Eileen. Eileen was the most SELFLESS, loving, thoughtful, generous, supportive and willing to help anyone at any cost person. A Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and Best Friend anyone could ever have. Eileen was loved by all who were fortunate enough to know her which is MANY. Eileen was our GIFT FROM GOD who will be sorely missed.
