Frank J. Colombo
March 17, 1933 - April 25, 2022
Frank J. Colombo was the son of Sicilian-Italian immigrants. He was born in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, in 1933 and graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School in January, 1951. He was a veteran of the Korean War having been stationed in Germany as an MP guarding the nuclear canon. He was a master marksman and taught pistol and archery. In 1955 he married his high school sweetheart, Vincenza (Winnie) and they moved to Farmingville. There they had their first child, Antoinette (Toni). While living in East Patchogue, they had their son, Frank. Frank was co-owner of Ninette’s Sportswear which originated on Roe Court in Patchogue. The factory was expanded and moved to Horseblock Road, Farmingville. He moved his family to West Patchogue in 1962 and remained there until he retired to Florida in 1984. Later, he returned to Patchogue and remained on Roe Boulevard until his passing. He was co-owner of the infamous Tojen’s Restaurant in Medford until it burned in 1974. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus and Kiwanis. An avid boater, Frank was a founding member and past Commodore of the Brookside Yacht Club, and considered the east dock at Davis Park a second home. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law to Grace Colombo and John Boaz, grandfather to Angela Ruggiero (Chris), Frankie Colombo (Cayla) and Michael Colombo, and great-grandfather to Christopher Ruggiero and Gabriel and Gideon Marie Colombo.
