Joseph William Kukral of Mastic New York, born March 1958 in Tecumseh, Michigan, passed away peacefully at the age of 63 June 14, 2021. The fact that it was flag day seems fitting for the type of person he was. He was the beloved son of William and Betty Kukral and is survived by his wife of 40 years Stephanie, children Jessica, Shawn and Chelsa and his grandchildren Zoe and Lilith. Joe served in the United States Army from 1979-1985 as an administrative specialist and then became a volunteer member at the Sand Lake Fire Department in Michigan. He continued to serve his community by joining the Manorville Community Ambulance Department in 1994, serving 27 years, in which 12 of those years he was elected Chief and helped oversee the planning and groundbreaking of the new facility in 2013. Ultimately becoming a lifetime member of the ambulance department. He also served his community as a member of the Manorville Fire Department, was a board of trustee member for the Suffolk County Department of Parks and the co-vice President and legislative liaison for the Suffolk Committee for Camping. Joe was also very proud of his involvement in the development of Camp Indigo. Joe was ultimately the type of person everyone could rely on, call any time you needed a helping hand or help with an idea, and a mentor to many. His love for the outdoors and camping with his family and friends were what Joe enjoyed most. He had an overwhelming impact on many peoples lives and will be deeply missed.
