On Friday, October 8, 2021, Robert Ascione, loving husband and father of two children passed away at the age of 81. Robert was born December 16, 1939 in Saranac Lake, NY to Patrick and Myrna Ascione. He received his Certificate of Art and Architecture from Cooper Union in 1962 and his Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute in 1965. He practiced architecture in New York for 50 years. He married Mary Poe in 1981. Robert had a passion for architecture, photography, and traveling with friends. His architectural practice was diversified, encompassing both residential and commercial work. He particularly enjoyed an ongoing relationship with Roundabout Theatre Company. Planning and architectural/interior design services were provided for the 17th Street/Union Square Theatre, Laura Pels Theatre, American Airlines Theatre, and the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre, all located in New York City. When not working on projects for clients, Robert spent much of his free time on renovating his own homes. He enjoyed mentoring young architects and took pleasure in following their careers. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Many memories were made by him taking photos and making home movies. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Patrick, and his mother, Myrna. He is survived by his wife Mary, his two children Mitchell and Elissa, his son-in-law Anthony Vitale, his six grandchildren Jessica, Alec, Vincent, Eve, Madeline, Anthony, his brother Richard Ascione and his sister Kaye Bernstein. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the Robertaccio Funeral Home in Center Moriches, NY at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Michael J.
