Stanley L. Ruxton

October 3, 1927 - March 31, 2021

Stanley L. Ruxton of Englewood, FL, formerly of the Huntington/Oyster Bay area of NY passed away at his Florida home on March 31st at the age of 93. Stanley was born on October 3, 1927 in Dumbarton, Scotland to late parents George Ruxton and Elizabeth Woodford. Stanley and his family resided in Scotland until he was 12 years old and then his mother relocated the family to Wainscott, NY. There Stanley grew up on a farm and attended school at the Wainscott One Room Schoolhouse before eventually joining the United States Army at the age of 18. Stanley served in the occupational troops in Italy during World War II. After the war, he returned to the United States where he married his first wife, June C. Cooper and he completed his undergraduate and master’s degree at Penn State University and the University of Connecticut with funding from the GI Bill. Stanley travelled the East Coast selling milk filters and worked tirelessly as a sales representative for Groen before eventually opening his own company called Seaflow, Inc. which automated the lipstick production industry. Mr. Ruxton was a self-sufficient man who loved nature and photography. He was predeceased by his younger brother, Willie Metzker. Stanley is survived by his wife Roberta Ruxton, his children Camille Ruxton, Michelle Sears and Stuart Ruxton and his brother George Ruxton. Stanley will be remembered by his five dear grandchildren; Heather, Andrew, Melinda, Zachary and Trevor and nine great grandchildren; Wesley, Trenton, Isabella, Roux, Riley, Evelyn, Benjamin, Lily and Aria. A private viewing will take place on Saturday, April 10th from 10 am to 11 am at the Robertaccio Funeral Home, Inc. in Patchogue. Interment will follow immediately at Wainscott Cemetery where military honors will be rendered. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution in Stanley’s memory may be made to a local food bank of your choice.
